Terms And Conditions

Putney Carpet Cleaners Service Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Putney Carpet Cleaners provides carpet, upholstery and related cleaning services to domestic and commercial customers. By making a booking, paying a deposit, or allowing our operatives access to your premises, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

1. Definitions

In these Terms and Conditions, the following expressions have the meanings set out below:

Client means the person, firm or company who requests and purchases the services from Putney Carpet Cleaners.

Company means Putney Carpet Cleaners, providing cleaning and related services.

Premises means the property or properties where the services will be carried out.

Services means carpet cleaning, rug cleaning, upholstery cleaning, stain removal, end of tenancy cleaning and any other related services agreed between the Client and the Company.

Operative means an employee, contractor or representative assigned by the Company to deliver the services.

2. Scope of Services

The Company will perform the services with reasonable care and skill, using appropriate cleaning methods and materials for the type of surface and level of soiling, as assessed by the Operative on arrival.

The exact scope of the services, including areas to be cleaned, type of treatment and any additional requests, will be agreed at the point of booking or, where necessary, confirmed on site before work begins. Any variation requested by the Client on the day may result in a change to the quoted price and the time required.

The Company does not guarantee the removal of all stains or odours. Certain stains, marks or damage may be permanent or may require specialist treatment outside the normal scope of the services. The Operative will use reasonable efforts to improve the condition of carpets and upholstery but cannot promise a particular outcome.

3. Booking Process

Bookings may be made by the Client through the Company’s designated booking channels. When making a booking, the Client must provide accurate information about the Premises, including property type, number and size of rooms or items, access arrangements, and any special conditions such as heavy soiling, pet contamination or previous damage.

All bookings are subject to availability and are not confirmed until the Client has received a clear confirmation from the Company. The Company reserves the right to decline a booking where it considers that the services requested cannot be provided safely or reasonably.

The Client is responsible for ensuring that an authorised adult is present at the Premises at the start and end of the service, unless agreed otherwise in advance. If access is provided via keys or key safes, the Client must ensure they are in working order and that clear instructions are supplied.

4. Estimates and Quotes

Any price given before the Operative attends the Premises is an estimate based on the information supplied by the Client. The Company reserves the right to amend the price where the actual condition, size or layout of the Premises differs from the description provided, or where additional work is requested or required.

If, upon arrival, the Operative considers that additional time, treatments or specialist equipment will be necessary, the Client will be informed before work begins. If the Client does not agree to the revised price, the Company may cancel the service and charge a call-out fee, as notified to the Client in advance.

5. Client Obligations

The Client agrees to:

Provide safe and unobstructed access to the Premises, including any parking permissions or arrangements necessary for the Operative’s vehicle and equipment.

Ensure that electricity, running water and adequate lighting are available for the duration of the service.

Remove fragile items, valuables, small furniture, toys and other loose objects from the areas to be cleaned, or clearly identify any items that should not be moved.

Inform the Company in advance of any known defects, long-standing stains, previous damage, loose fittings, poorly secured carpets, or sensitive fabrics and finishes.

Keep children, pets and other occupants away from the work areas and any wet surfaces until the Operative advises that it is safe.

6. Payments and Charges

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment is due on completion of the services on the day they are carried out. The Company may, at its discretion, require a deposit or full payment in advance to secure the booking, particularly for larger jobs or commercial contracts.

Acceptable payment methods will be communicated to the Client at the time of booking. The Company does not accept responsibility for cash handed to anyone other than its authorised Operatives.

Where an invoice is issued with payment terms, the Client must ensure that payment is received in cleared funds by the due date shown on the invoice. The Company reserves the right to charge interest and reasonable recovery costs for late payments in accordance with applicable law.

All prices are provided in pounds sterling unless expressly stated otherwise. Any applicable taxes or government charges will be included in the quoted price or clearly shown as a separate item.

7. Cancellations and Rescheduling

The Client may cancel or reschedule a booking by giving the notice period specified by the Company at the time of booking. If the Client cancels or reschedules with insufficient notice, a cancellation fee may apply to cover allocated time, travel and administrative costs.

If the Operative is unable to gain access to the Premises at the agreed time due to circumstances within the Client’s control, the visit may be treated as a late cancellation and charged accordingly.

The Company may cancel or reschedule a booking if it is prevented from providing the services by factors beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to severe weather, transport disruption, equipment failure, health and safety concerns, or the illness of key staff. In such cases, the Company will offer an alternative appointment. If no suitable alternative is available, any deposit paid for the affected booking will be refunded.

8. Health and Safety

The Company will carry out the services in accordance with applicable health and safety requirements and will use products that are suitable for professional cleaning purposes. Safety data for products can be provided on request where reasonably practicable.

The Client must inform the Operative of any health and safety risks at the Premises, such as loose floor coverings, unsafe electrical outlets, poor ventilation or restricted access. The Operative may refuse to perform all or part of the services if conditions are unsafe or present an unreasonable risk to people or property.

Following the service, carpets and upholstery may remain damp for a period. The Client is responsible for ensuring adequate ventilation and taking reasonable steps to prevent slips, trips or other accidents while surfaces dry.

9. Waste Handling and Environmental Regulations

The Company will dispose of any waste generated during the performance of the services in accordance with applicable waste and environmental regulations. Routine waste such as used cleaning solutions, packaging and minor debris will be managed in line with standard professional practice.

The services do not include the removal of hazardous, clinical or regulated waste, including but not limited to asbestos, sharps, biological material or chemical contaminants. If such waste is discovered, the Operative will stop work in the affected area and inform the Client. The Client must arrange for specialist removal and remediation before work can continue.

The Client is responsible for informing the Company in advance if the Premises has been subject to flooding, sewage leaks, pest infestations or other contamination that may require special handling or waste disposal. Additional charges may apply where specialist procedures or equipment are required to comply with relevant regulations.

10. Liability and Exclusions

The Company will exercise reasonable care to avoid damage to the Premises and contents. The Client must notify the Operative of any particularly delicate, valuable or unstable items in the work area.

The Company will not be liable for:

Pre-existing damage, wear, discolouration, fading, shrinkage, loose fibres, or defects that become more visible after cleaning.

Damage resulting from the Client’s failure to follow the Operative’s instructions regarding drying times, ventilation, or use of areas after cleaning.

Losses arising from delays, cancellations or rescheduling caused by events beyond the Company’s reasonable control.

Loss of profit, loss of business, or any indirect or consequential loss, whether for breach of contract, negligence or otherwise, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law.

11. Damage and Complaints

Any alleged damage or dissatisfaction with the services must be reported to the Company as soon as reasonably possible, and in any event within a short, reasonable period after the service has been completed. The Client should allow the Company a reasonable opportunity to inspect the issue and, where appropriate, to attempt to rectify it.

If damage is proven to have been caused by the Company’s negligence, the Company may, at its discretion, arrange a repair, offer compensation, or rely on its insurance cover where available. The Company’s total liability for any claim shall not exceed the value of the service provided or the amount recoverable under any relevant insurance policy, whichever is higher, unless otherwise required by law.

12. Access, Keys and Security

Where the Client provides keys, access codes or other security information, the Company will take reasonable steps to keep them secure and confidential. The Client is responsible for ensuring that locks and security systems are in good working order.

The Company is not liable for loss or damage arising from defective locks, insecure windows or doors, or any security weaknesses not caused by the Company. Keys will be returned or arrangements for secure storage and use will be agreed with the Client as appropriate.

13. Insurance

The Company maintains insurance cover appropriate for the nature of its services. Evidence of insurance can be provided to the Client on reasonable request.

The Client is responsible for arranging and maintaining their own household, contents or business insurance for the Premises and any items within it. The existence of the Company’s insurance does not reduce or remove the Client’s obligation to maintain its own cover.

14. Privacy and Data Protection

The Company will collect and use personal information from the Client only as necessary to process bookings, deliver the services, manage accounts, and handle enquiries or complaints. Personal information may include names, addresses, access instructions and details of services provided.

The Company will take reasonable steps to keep personal data secure and will not sell or disclose it to third parties without lawful basis or the Client’s consent, except where required by law or necessary for the performance of the services.

15. Amendments to Terms and Conditions

The Company may revise these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The version in force at the time of the Client’s booking will apply to that booking, unless a change is required by law or is agreed with the Client in writing.

Updated Terms and Conditions will be made available upon request. The Client is encouraged to review them periodically when making new bookings.

16. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and Conditions, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or the services provided by the Company, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

The parties agree that the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms and Conditions or their subject matter.

17. General Provisions

If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found by a court or other competent authority to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, that provision shall be deemed deleted, but such deletion shall not affect the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions.

No failure or delay by the Company in exercising any right or remedy under these Terms and Conditions shall operate as a waiver of that or any other right or remedy. No variation of these Terms and Conditions shall be effective unless agreed in writing by the Company.

The Client may not assign or transfer any of its rights or obligations under these Terms and Conditions without the prior written consent of the Company. The Company may assign or subcontract some or all of its rights and obligations where this does not reduce the standard of the services to be provided.

These Terms and Conditions constitute the entire agreement between the Company and the Client in relation to the services and supersede any prior understandings or arrangements, whether oral or written.
